Based on a story by author Noel Streatfeild, the film trells the story of two sisters who are left penniless by their father's sudden death and lease their estate as an airbase to US forces in Britain to help the war effort. Both eventually fall for American servicemen.
Singing Marseilles docker Joe is hired by wealthy English couple, the Oliphants, to find their missing son Gerald. When Joe finds him, he learns Gerald escaped of his own will and takes him to stay with a local singer, who offers a refuge from his repressed white parents.
1840 - Max Miller and a troupe of artistes come to perform at a tavern, which is not licensed for such performances. A rival tavern informs the police and they have to pay a heavy fine. However, they find the money by rescuing a boy and getting the reward.
