A boy, obsessed with comparing himself with those less fortunate, experiences a different life at the home of his aunt and uncle in 1959 Sweden.

Young Charlie becomes a farmhand on a remote Swedish island during the early 19th century. His master is a pirate who, together with his two daughters, live on killing shipwrecked sailors and stealing their cargo. Eventually, Charlie begins to question the correctness of his master living.

Kaj has come to pick up Berit and the children. The sea, the new apartment and the fine furniture are in Gothenburg. And the job, of course. However, the new life is quite fragile.
