After his most recent suicide attempt, Pete, a neurodivergent man, reluctantly travels back home with his younger brother Jake. As they drive across the American West, they attempt to reconcile past traumas and forge a new bond.
The twisted ladder of friendship leads upwards and outwards towards the inevitable. In one day, on one such journey, Happy and Murray find out way too much about each other's past. Still they keep climbing.
