A robber breaks into a house in the Santa Teresa district of Rio de Janeiro and kidnaps the family's youngest son. Based on a true kidnapping that happened in Rio de Janeiro in the 1970s, whose victim, Carlinhos, has never been found to this day.
Unemployed, penniless in the big city and after accidentally stealing and killing his landlady, Antonio flees Rio de Janeiro towards Northeast of Brazil to find his mother. On the way he meets a beautiful woman and a pair of criminals.
Based on real-life Brazilian bandit "Mineirinho", the film follows the story of Zezé, a man falsely accused by sensasionalist press of being a high-caliber criminal who suddenly becomes one of the most wanted men of Rio de Janeiro.
