Mukhabbat, an Uzbek immigrant, works at a convenience store on the outskirts of Moscow. Just like the rest of the immigrants at the store, she is forced to work without getting paid and endure mental and physical abuse, until she overcomes her fear one day and takes her fate into her own hands.
It's 1951. Klava Grachyova comes to take her husband home from a penal colony where he spent the last 9 years. He is not eager to come back home. Klava has only 3 days to sort everything out and take her husband back.
The main characters of the film, Khanum and her husband, together with their whole family, are trying to find their happiness in America. Having saved up money, they leave for a distant country, whether they will be happy there or they are doomed to miss their homeland.
